Halloween is finally here and for some reason it feels like it took FOREVER to arrive. Probably because this year She’s actually old enough to appreciate what it’s all about; we’ve been chatting about it each day, and she’s learning about time and patience. Needless to say, she’s pumped! Somehow, I am too.
I’m not much of a crafter, but we’ve been doing a lot of it lately, and I must admit, it’s been fun and we’re getting festive. I’m pretty sure that we’ve listened to the Monster Mash at least twenty times in the past week, Thriller a handful of times (complete with attempt at zombie dancing), and of course who can forget Ghostbusters? She’s been dancing around saying “who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!” Also entertaining, the other night Daddy introduced her to Jib Jab (you might remember “elf yourself”), and since then, there’s been a lot of laughter around the computer; who knew our family could shake it like that?! Clearly, we’re easily entertained. Anyhow, we’re ready: our pumpkins are carved and decaying into some downright scary specimens, pumpkin seeds are toasted (she likes to suck the salt off the seeds then spit them out…Oh, for me? why thank you!), we snipped our way through our Halloween chain (another lesson in the passing of time), and finally, browsed through old Halloween pics that my mom sent me this week. On the costume front, we’ve got a couple to choose from but only one that will survive an October night in Vancouver. So, tonight, one little monkey is going to be a very cute little cat, prowling the streets for candy with her adorable friend, le skunk. Hope you’ve got something spooky and sweet planned for tonight, Happy Halloween, everyone!
